A Holiday Favorite: Cranberry Sauce

  • 1 12 oz. bag fresh cranberries
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tbs orange zest
  • Juice of two fresh oranges
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves

 

Wash berries and remove any stems. Zest orange; squeeze. Combine all ingredients except sugar in a 2-quart saucepan over medium-high heat; bring to a boil. Reduce heat, then simmer until berries begin to pop. Add brown sugar and simmer until somewhat thickened, stirring with spatula. Allow to cool to room temperature. Remove cinnamon stick and spoon sauce into sealable glass container.  Chill in refrigerator for at least 24 hours to merge flavors.
