For the health of patients, staff, and guests, smoking is strongly discouraged on the UAB Hospital campus. All buildings, facilities, and spaces (including covered walkways and covered parking) that are owned, rented, or leased by UAB are nonsmoking areas. Please contact a staff member for directions to the nearest designated smoking area. If you are a patient or traveling to the smoking areas with a patient, please see a member of your care team before you leave the nursing unit. UAB's Tobacco Consult Service provides free assistance to patients who want to quit smoking. Call 205-934-0411 or ask a member of your care team to request a consult.
For additional information and resources to help kick the habit, watch this smoking cessation video, call 1-800-QUITNOW. We also encourage you to refer to the community resources below to help you quit. Remember: Quitting smoking is one of the single best things you can do for your health!
