For over five decades, the UAB Comprehensive Transplant Institute has offered compassionate care and life-giving hope to our patients. Don’t simply take our word for it though. Read what a handful of our patients had to say about their transplant experience at UAB.
I have a new journey to fulfill and pay forward the tremendous blessing I received from my altruistic living donor. UAB gave me back my life and gave it new meaning.
UAB is one of the best heart transplant centers in the world, and I feel so very fortunate that it is in my hometown. There is cutting-edge research, innovative care, and world-class medical professionals who enabled me to continue to lead a healthy, active life.
I was scared to death, but the transplant team was so comforting. And the floor nurses were so great; I’ve never seen anything like them. They were so caring, loving, and they really listen to you.
The entire transplant system at UAB ranks head and shoulders above the rest, because they couple the skills and talents of the best specialists in the world with the most personal experience you’ll find anywhere.
I would like to thank every doctor, nurse, nurse practitioner, and everyone else who cared for me while I was at UAB. To other transplant recipients: Walk by faith and trust your transplant team.
It may sound weird, but my transplant was one of the best experiences of my life, and I am so thankful to UAB and all of my doctors and nurses. The transplant has changed my life and me as a person. I can now travel and do things I could never do before. It allowed me extra time with my family, and I’m able to watch my kids grow up, go to school, get married, and have kids of their own.
The UAB Transplant team has great doctors, nurses, and staff who walk you through everything you need to know about your transplant and medications. Now I can go hiking without getting tired, and I have more time to spend with family and friends and do the things I like to do.
