About UAB Medicine OBGYN Services
As part of the UAB Division of Women’s Reproductive Healthcare, our services range from complete obstetric care to the medical and surgical treatment of complicated gynecological concerns. Our physicians are here for you through your first routine gynecological exam, to delivering your baby, to guiding you through menopause. When you establish a relationship with our doctors, you can carry that relationship throughout your lifetime.
UAB Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology is dedicated to providing compassionate care for girls of all ages. In addition to providing routine gynecologic care, specialists with UAB can help young women in many other areas. This includes counseling and education on contraceptive options including oral, transdermal, subcutaneous, injectable, and intrauterine devices. UAB can conduct confidential testing of and education about sexually transmitted diseases. Gynecology specialists can perform pap smears and HPV testing for cervical cancers, and, in the event of an abnormal pap smear, colposcopy and biopsy services are available. Evaluation and medical management also is available in the case of an irregular menstrual cycle or benign disorders of the genital tract and ovaries.
