UAB OB/GYN’s No. 13 ranking is the highest in the southeast for this specialty. Our program’s dedication to providing top-notch care and advancing women’s health helped us earn this prestigious accolade, and we stood out in several key areas. Here are some high points of the program’s rankings, as outlined on the scorecard provided by U.S. News:
OB/GYN procedures and conditions: Our specialty secured “High Performing” ratings in the categories for ovarian and uterine cancer surgeries and for uncomplicated maternity care. Notably, the program met the criteria to be recognized as a “Birthing-Friendly” hospital, thanks to our dedication to implementing patient safety practices that help improve maternal outcomes. These recognitions reflect the program’s excellence in diagnosing and treating women’s health conditions.
Patient outcomes and experience: Patient outcomes and experience are considered vital indicators of hospital performance on the ranking scorecard. Our specialty stood out in this area, receiving the best possible rating of “Excellent” in discharging patients and the overall quality of inpatient stays. This reflects the program’s dedication to ensuring the well-being and satisfaction of our patients.
Advanced technology and treatments: UAB remains at the forefront of medical advancements, with the most cutting-edge technology and treatments available to patients. This commitment to innovation undoubtedly contributed to our specialty’s high ranking. We secured “Excellent” ratings in categories related to our nursing staff, advanced technologies, and patient services such as fertility clinics and genetic testing.
“This is an amazing program, and the women’s health care we provide is consistently recognized for excellence both regionally and nationally,” said Warner Huh, M.D., FACOG, FACS, professor and chair of the UAB Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology. “This excellence is a team effort, so I want to extend my congratulations and gratitude to our staff, nurses, trainees, advanced practice providers, administrators, and faculty. None of this would be possible without your dedication and commitment to our mission. You all are amazing!”
