Join UAB Medicine and the Transplant Life Foundation in welcoming thousands from the organ transplantation community to an exciting celebration of life this summer. The Transplant Games of America (TGA) are coming to Birmingham July 5-10, and UAB Medicine is the presenting medical partner of the Games. Also, the UAB Sports and Exercise Medicine team will be providing medical coverage for the athletes.

The general public, including UAB Medicine employees, can take part in many aspects of the event – from the Opening Ceremony to a wide range of entertainment and activities in the TGA Village and Expo. Most of these activities are free, so mark your calendars now!

Opening Ceremony

Saturday, July 6 at 7 p.m.
Legacy Arena

See dozens of teams from across the nation parade into Legacy Arena on Saturday night to enjoy the traditional kickoff for the six-day biennial Games.

TGA Village & Expo

Friday, July 5–Wednesday, July 10
BJCC Exhibit Hall 3

Watch the athletes compete in pickleball, ballroom dancing, trivia, and Texas hold ‘em, and enjoy live entertainment on the TGA stage and activities throughout the Village. At the TGA Expo, you can sit in on a workshop, learn about new advances in transplantation, buy some transplant swag, and visit the UAB Medicine booth. There will always be something fun and interesting going on in the Village!

TGA 5K Run/Walk

Saturday, July 6 at 7:30 a.m.
Starts at the BJCC
$35 entry fee; register at transplantgamesofamerica.org/5k-run-walk

This Saturday morning event is open to the public, so lace up your running or walking shoes, or just come out to cheer on the participants. By showing your support for transplant recipients, donor families, living donors, and those awaiting transplant, you help us promote the lifesaving gift of organ, eye, and tissue donation.
