Head shot of Dr. Jenna Johnson, MD

Jenna Johnson, M.D., is a physician at UAB Medicine Urgent Care. Below, she answers some questions to help get to know her better.

Where were you educated, and what kind of experience do you have?

I did my undergraduate training at Furman University in Greenville, S.C., and I completed medical school at UAB in 2007. I did my residency in emergency medicine at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, S.C., then I worked in the emergency department at Coosa Valley Medical Center for six years. I started at UAB Urgent Care in 2016.

What is the most rewarding thing about working in urgent care?

The best part about urgent care is being able to see a wide variety of diseases and complex cases and getting to meet several new patients every week. It has been amazing to experience all of the lifechanging and sometimes lifesaving interactions that my colleagues and I have been part of over the last seven years.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I love to travel, garden, listen to podcasts, and spend time with my husband and three children.
