Several nursing units at UAB Hospital have earned prestigious Beacon Awards for Excellence from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN). This year’s recipients include:
- Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) – Silver
- Heart & Lung Transplant Intensive Care Unit (HLTICU) – Silver
- Medical Critical Care Unit (MCCU) – Bronze
- Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) – Bronze
- Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CICU) – Silver (re-designated)
The Beacon Award is a national honor that recognizes excellence in patient outcomes, work environment, and nursing practice. Units that receive this recognition demonstrate a sustained commitment to evidence-based care and continuous improvement.
