Get to know Karen Culverhouse, physical therapist assistant

Karen Culverhouse

Why did you choose to become a therapist?

I wanted a career in which I felt I could help make a difference in people’s lives. I have always enjoyed helping people, and I find this job very rewarding because I get to be part of each patient’s rehab journey.

What do you enjoy about inpatient rehab?

I truly appreciate the team-based approach to patient care and collaboration here in inpatient rehab. The close coordination among disciplines helps us maximize treatment plans for our shared patients. I also value the opportunity to see the same patients daily, from the start of their stay until discharge. This continuity allows me to build strong relationships with both patients and their families, understand what motivates them, and see them progress toward their goals every day.

What most excites you about our new rehab hospital opening this spring?

I’m excited about the expanded space and improved accessibility we’ll have in the therapy gyms, patient rooms, and other treatment areas. Also, the addition of advanced technology and the latest rehab equipment will allow us to offer the best possible interventions for our patients. I’m also really looking forward to enjoying the rooftop terrace area with my patients as well as my co-workers!
