For a consultation or to refer a patient, please contact the UAB Environmental Lung Disease Clinic at 205-996-5864 or via fax at 205-801-8231. We will contact your patient to schedule an appointment.
For urgent referrals or physician consults, please call UAB MIST (Medical Information Service via Telephone) at 1-800-UAB-MIST (1-800-822-6478) or email mist@uabmc.edu. UAB MIST is a toll-free, 24-hour service that connects physicians anywhere in the country with UAB Medicine specialists.

Program Highlights
The first of its kind in Alabama, UAB Medicine’s Environmental Lung Disease Clinic provides comprehensive evaluations for patients with respiratory conditions related to occupational exposures, environmental hazards at home and in the workplace, and geographic areas of heightened risk. Some of these conditions develop slowly and may not show symptoms until many years after the exposure has ended. The clinic develops patient-centered care plans that include complete physical evaluations and testing, as well as treatment that’s based on factors such as work history, the severity of symptoms, and overall health condition.
