The radiology team at UAB Medicine now offers a surgical imaging role for radiologic technologists to provide imaging support by responding to the specific needs of our surgical teams. UAB Medicine’s surgical department is one of the largest in the country, with more than 60 state-of-the-art operating suites in multiple locations. This unique opportunity offers exposure to complex surgical procedures, such as percutaneous iliosacral screw (ISS) fixation, open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) of the acetabulum, spine stimulator insertion, and percutaneous spine procedures.

Student Opportunities
UAB Medicine offers unique hands-on imaging experience with flexible schedules for student technicians who are interested in developing their skills and fast-tracking their career growth. First year students enrolled in an imaging program can work as a radiologic technologist assistant (RTA). This position will be involved in direct patient care and can assist the RT in imaging patients. Second year students can work as a student technologist. This position will be involved in direct patient care and can image patients independently.
