Women’s Choice Awards – UAB Medicine is the recipient of several 2017 Women’s Choice Awards, including being named one of America’s Best Hospitals for Patient Experience, Patient Bariatric Surgery, Obstetrics, Heart Care, and Cancer Care, as well as having one of the best Breast Centers.

Best Doctors in America – 342 UAB physicians are featured in the 2016-2017 annual Best Doctors survey. The Best Doctors database includes the names and professional profiles of some 50,000 physicians, representing about 5% of the nation's doctors.

UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center – One of the eight original highest-level centers as designated by the National Cancer Institute when the “war on cancer” was declared in 1971 (there are now 45 such centers), and it remains the only one in a six-state region that includes Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, and South Carolina.

A Magnet Hospital –The Magnet Recognition Program certifies nursing excellence at health care organizations. UAB Medicine is the only hospital in Alabama designated a Magnet organization and one of only 410 worldwide. It received the designation in 2002, 2006, 2011, and most recently in 2015, which ensures the designation through 2018. Fewer than 100 hospitals in the world have achieved three consecutive Magnet designations. UAB Medicine's fourth consecutive designation puts the hospital in extremely rare company.
