Endovenous ablation (EVLT) is a procedure to treat varicose veins. It uses laser technology to internally close off abnormal, refluxing, saphenous veins which often supply blood flow to secondary varicose or spider veins. Although EVLT does not directly remove varicose vein clusters or spider veins, these secondary vein problems may improve after EVLT treatment of the saphenous vein. If secondary varicose or spider veins persist, additional procedures may be needed. This office procedure can be performed under local anesthesia, takes approximately 45 minutes to perform, and most people can resume normal activities immediately after.
Whether you are looking for treatment for spider and varicose veins or a more complex vein problem, The UAB Vein Clinic offers comprehensive evaluation, specialized treatment, and compassionate care for the health of your veins.
