UAB Medicine was ranked the No. 3 health care brand in the country and No. 1 in the Birmingham area by independent consulting firm Monigle, in its seventh annual Humanizing Brand Experience research report. The study surveyed over 26,000 consumers and evaluated 209 health care brands across 66 U.S. markets.
The report examines how health care systems nationwide are enhancing the patient experience to meet an ever-changing landscape. The rankings are based on maintaining a strong culture and delivering excellent service, which translates to positive human experiences for the patients and communities served by these organizations.
Consumers were asked to share their perceptions in a wide range of areas, including:
- Compassion and engagement of staff
- Cutting-edge treatments and technology
- Appearance of facilities and overall environment
- Ease of communication
- Presence in advertising and on social media
“This report validates our people-first approach and the investments we’ve made in our brand, culture, and the patient experience toward building lasting connections with the individuals and communities we serve,” said Adrienne Steading, assistant vice president of Marketing for UAB Medicine.
This recognition is among the latest to highlight excellence at UAB Medicine, which provides health care services to over 1.6 million patients annually. UAB Hospital was named the best hospital in Alabama by U.S. News & World Report in its 2023-2024 rankings. And in April, UAB became one of only 19 hospitals worldwide to receive a sixth consecutive Magnet designation for nursing excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center Magnet Recognition Program.
Now in its sixth decade, Monigle is a brand experience company that helps clients better focus on customers and create memorable moments that drive human impact. Its annual Humanizing Brand Experience report explores the key trends, insights, and strategies that are shaping the future of health care.
