How to Refer a Patient

For urgent referrals or inpatient transfers, please call UAB MIST (Medical Information Service via Telephone) at 1-800-UAB-MIST (1-800-822-6478) or email mist@uabmc.edu. UAB MIST is a toll-free, 24-hour service that connects physicians anywhere in the country with UAB Medicine specialists.

Program Highlights

UAB Medicine’s cardiac electrophysiology physicians have vast experience treating basic arrhythmias – atrioventricular nodal reentry tachycardia, Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, and atrial flutter – as well as more complex cases of atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, and arrhythmias that can develop after heart surgery. Each treatment plan is tailored to the individual patient but can include medication, cardioversion, catheter ablation, pacemakers and/or implantable cardioverter defibrillators. UAB’s ongoing research and clinical trials contribute to new therapies that can increase survival rates and lead to a better quality of life for your patients.
