How to Refer a Patient
For referrals, please call the UAB Orthopaedics Call Center at 205-930-8339 and select option 1 twice. The UAB Orthopaedics Call Center is a service open Monday- Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. CT that connects physicians anywhere in the country with UAB Orthopaedic specialists. Records and referral papers can be faxed to medical records at 205-930-8575.
For inpatient transfers, please call UAB MIST (Medical Information Services via Telephone) at 1-800-UAB-MIST (1-800-822-6478) or email mist@uabmc.edu. UAB MIST is a toll-free, 24-hour service that connects physicians anywhere in the country with UAB Medicine specialists.

Program Highlights
UAB Sports Medicine provides the most advanced and personalized care and rehabilitation, supported by ongoing research and with an emphasis on proper athletic development and injury prevention. Select faculty provide care for the NBA, the UAB Blazers, the Birmingham Legion Football Club, and other sports organizations, and our staff are certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association. Our program features physicians, care coordinators, certified athletic trainers, physical therapists, radiologists, and a certified pedorthist, all of whom work together closely to treat athletes in a comprehensive fashion, using the latest surgical and non-surgical approaches.
